The Department of Land Transport, in collaboration with the Digital Government Development Agency (Public Organization) (DGA), has made the Thang Rath Super App. available to facilitate citizens’ access to vehicle registration and driving license information. This service is easily accessible through GDX and is preparing to offer Virtual Card services in the future.
The Department of Land Transport, in collaboration with the Digital Government Development Agency (Public Organization) (DGA), has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the “Connecting Data and Services in Land Transport” project via the Thang Rath Super App. The MOU was signed by Mr. Jirut Visanjit, Director-General of the Department of Land Transport, and Mrs. Airada Luangvilai, DGA Senior Executive Vice President and Acting President & CEO. The agreement aims to facilitate citizens’ access to the Department of Land Transport’s services anytime, anywhere. The signing ceremony, held on December 9, 2024, at the Department of Land Transport, was witnessed by Ms. Apinhporn Aungkhagamonsesth, Senior Executive Vice President, and relevant executives from both organizations.
Mr. Jirut Visanjit, Director-General of the Department of Land Transport, expressed satisfaction with this important collaboration. Mr, Jirut acknowledged DGA’s success in driving the development of digital government services, emphasizing the importance of solving issues and using digital technology to benefit public service users, and highlighted that DGA’s continuous efforts in making government services accessible online have provided citizens with greater convenience, speed, and efficiency. Over the years, DGA has developed services for all age groups, including data verification, payment services, and digital wallet registration, marking a significant achievement in advancing public services.
Currently, citizens can access information on vehicle registration under the Motor Vehicle Act and the Land Transport Act, as well as driving licenses and vehicle operator licenses through the government app. Mr. Jirut is confident that in the future, more services from the Department of Land Transport will be available via the app, including the Virtual Card for driving licenses and other services. He also expressed the department’s readiness to collaborate and support DGA’s initiatives, as this marks a significant step forward in providing government services through online platforms to better meet the needs of the public.
Mrs. Airada mentioned that the services provided by the Department of Land Transport have always been popular on the Thang Rath App., with a large number of citizens using these services through the app. Therefore, DGA has decided to directly link the Department of Land Transport’s data with the app via the Government Data Exchange (GDX) platform, which is operated by DGA. This will ensure that citizens can access services seamlessly without interruptions.
The services currently available on the Thang Rath App. include inquiries about vehicle registration, vehicle registration, online driving license training, and checking driving license information. In the future, citizens will also be able to access a Virtual Card driving license, which is a digital version of the Department of Land Transport’s driving license. This virtual card will include a photo and information identical to that of the physical driving license. Citizens will be able to check and verify if their driving license is expired or lost by using their national ID number to inquire about both vehicle registration and driving license data. The system will also ensure identity verification each time citizens access the services.
The “Than Rath App.” is a super app. that serves as a central hub for essential services from all government agencies. It is the result of collaboration between DGA, the Office of the Civil Service Commission (OCSC), and several other partner organizations. The app provides easy access for citizens to over 172 government services.
With a total of 38,905,291 downloads and an average of more than 500,000 active users per day, the Thang Rath App. has become the go-to platform for citizens. It offers an easy, efficient, and complete service experience for all age groups, allowing individuals to access their personal information at any time, without needing to wait for government office hours.
