The “Cloud First” policy continues to move forward, with the Digital Government Development Agency (Public Organization) (DGA) being appointed as the administrator for managing government cloud services. This will drive government agencies to fully embrace and implement cloud technology.

Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Prasert Jantararuangtong, chaired the 3rd Digital Government Development Committee meeting on December 16, 2024, at the National Telecommunications Public Company Limited. The meeting was attended by Mr. Naprakorn, Chairperson of the Digital Government Development Agency (DGA) Committee, committee advisors, Professor Visit Visithsarathorn, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, DGA Senior Executive Vice President and Acting President & CEO, Mrs. Airada Luangvilai, and other committee members and experts from various government agencies.

The committee approved the plan to move forward with the “Cloud First” policy. DGA was appointed as the key agency to manage government cloud services. Furthermore, DGA will be responsible for registering cloud service providers, monitoring and ensuring their standards, overseeing cloud projects, and integrating cloud budgets within the government’s digital budget plan. This aims to ensure efficient budget management for procuring cloud services in accordance with the Cloud First policy.

The committee also approved the plan to implement the “Cloud First” policy as outlined by the Digital Government Development Agency (Public Organization) (DGA). The approach includes the following strategies:

  1. Government Cloud Management Framework: This involves creating a draft announcement, gathering feedback, developing guidelines, and providing advice to government agencies on implementing the Cloud First policy.
  2. Data Classification Guidelines: Initial details will be provided for government agencies to implement data classification protocols effectively.
  3. Cloud Service Management Guidelines (Supply): The development of specifications, standards, and conditions for cloud service providers will be carried out, with opportunities for feedback and discussions with relevant agencies to adjust regulations in alignment with the policy.
  4. Government Cloud Management Strategy: This includes analyzing, designing, and developing the Government Cloud Management system, as well as coordinating and integrating data with cloud service providers.
  5. Project Proposal and Budget Evaluation Guidelines: These will ensure alignment with the government’s focus on Cloud First and AI policies, determining the overall needs of government agencies to allocate the national budget efficiently for maximum benefit to the country.
