The Digital Government Development Agency (Public Organization) (DGA) extends its gratitude to all government agencies for their collaborative efforts in developing digital services to meet citizens’ needs. As a result of this joint effort, Thailand has climbed to 52nd place out of 193 countries worldwide in the 2024 UN E-Government Development Index (EGDI), ranked by the United Nations. The result marks a proud advancement from ranking 55th place in 2022. Moreover, Thailand maintains its position as the 2nd highest-ranked country in ASEAN, following Singapore. This achievement serves as clear evidence of the positive transformation and continuous success in Thailand’s public sector digital system development.

Mr. Prasert Jantararuangtong, currently serving as Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand and Minister of Digital Economy and Society overseeing DGA, said “The 2024 EGDI result reflects Thailand’s success in digital government development. This success stems from efficient collaboration between various agencies, particularly in an era where digital technology has become crucial to elevating government services to meet public needs. Digital technology serves as a tool to enhance operational transparency and accountability, promote comprehensive distribution of information, and confront all forms of corruption.”

Mr. Prasert further stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the government plans to modernize both civil service and military systems by integrating digital technology to optimize organizational structures, enhance budget efficiency, and streamline government operations. This policy focuses on developing personnel capabilities with both ethical standards and expertise and ensuring government services truly serve as a reliable resource for the citizens.

Mrs. Airada Luangvilai, Senior Executive Vice President and Acting President & CEO of DGA, added that this year’s success was achieved from government agencies’ collaboration in developing new forms of digital services, focusing on creating central digital platforms or digital infrastructure that supports all aspects of public services. For example, the “Thang Rath” super app now consolidates more than 153 government services in one comprehensive platform.
The development of agencies’ Master Data is another crucial project supporting inter-agency collaboration and enhancing digital service efficiency.

This year’s key advancement is the improvement of the Human Capital Index (HCI), where Thailand scored 0.8032 in 2024, up from 0.7879 in 2022. Moreover, the Telecommunication Infrastructure Index (TII) also showed significant progress, with Thailand scoring 0.941 in 2024, increasing from 0.7338 in 2022.

Although Thailand’s Online Service Index (OSI) slightly decreased from 0.7763 in 2022 to 0.7611 in 2024, there were improvements in sub-indicators such as the Institutional Framework, which received a perfect score of 1.00, and Government Website’s Content Provision, scoring 0.8889. Furthermore, Service Provision increased from 0.6933 in 2022 to 0.6988 in 2024. These improvements demonstrated clear efforts to improve digital public services.

The achievements mark an important step towards Thailand’s goal of reaching the global top 40, as targeted in the Digital Government Development Plan 2025-2027, which will be officially announced soon. The plan will serve as a guideline for developing efficient and secure digital government services for all citizens.
