DGA affirms that Thang Rath application contains high personal data security with world-class standards and encourages Thais to trust and install the application via App Store and Play Store.

“Thang Rath” application is a government-developed platform designed as the central hub for public services that integrates data and services from various government agencies in one place. It enables citizens of all ages to conveniently access online government services through a single application with high speed, security, transparency, and accountability. In addition, it also serves as a registration channel for the 10,000-baht economic stimulus program through Digital Wallet. Therefore, to access the “Thang Rath” app, identity verification is required to confirm that the person attempting to use the app is a real citizen. This process involves taking a photo of their faces and their national ID cards, which will then be compared with the facial images and ID information collected in the government database to ensure compatibility. This verification process, known as ‘Know Your Customer (KYC)’, helps prevent unauthorized access or identity fraud. It is a highly reliable security measure and equivalent to the standards followed by banks in Thailand (IAL 2.3), as stipulated by the Electronic Transactions Commission’s announcement.
Currently, the “Thang Rath” app serves solely as the platform for connecting data and services from originating agencies without storing any citizen data within the app itself. Personal information displayed in the app is accessible only by the data owner and authorized individuals as permitted by laws.
Furthermore, the “Thang Rath” application implements stringent security measures from the system design and development stages incorporating data encryption and advanced identity verification technologies. This is carried out by expert engineers from the Digital Government Development Development Agency (Public Organization) or DGA in collaboration with experienced professionals who have developed large-scale systems. The primary focus is to ensure that the data security and system, with continuous monitoring, system testing, penetration testing, and vulnerability fixes, are conducted before and during service operations. These measures prevent hacking and unauthorized access to data and services, adhering to international standards. Moreover, the app employs State-of-the-Art Cybersecurity Protection to defend against cyber threats at the highest level including the management and storage of personal data under the guidelines set by the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) and in compliance with the Computer Crime Act (No. 2) B.E. 2560 (2017), the Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019), and the Cybersecurity Act B.E. 2562 (2019), as well as the standards certified by the Digital Government Development Agency (DGA) such as ISO 27001: 2022 (Security Management), etc.
In addition, the “Thang Rath” app also operates on a reliable and stable system. A war room has also been installed to monitor the system and cybersecurity threats with the expertise of the DGA expert engineer team, in collaboration with the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, which provides round-the-clock surveillance. This was evident from the first day of registration for the 10,000-baht Digital Wallet program when malicious actors attempted heavy attacks on the related systems from the first hour of registration meanwhile many citizens accessed the government application. Despite these attempted cyber-attacks, the application continued to function seamlessly processing 18.8 million registrations within 24 hours without system crashes or data breaches.
